Search on for escaped inmate suspected in shotgun attack on deputy

Darnell Washington, letf, and Tania Washington are wanted in connection with a shooting of a deputy.
Authorities were searching Monday morning for a man who escaped from jail and allegedly wounded a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy in a shotgun attack.
Darnell Washington, 24, escaped Tuesday from a San Bernardino County jail with the aid of his 25-year-old wife,Tania Washington, according to authorities.
The pair were spotted Sunday morning in a suspected stolen vehicle in South El Monte by the Los Angeles County deputy. 
"Suspect Darnell Washington allegedly emerged from the rear of the vehicle.... The deputy was shot by the suspect with a shotgun," the Sheriff's Department said in a statement.
The deputy received a non-life-threatening wound and was in stable condition, a department spokesman said Monday morning.
Washington and his wife allegedly fled in the vehicle, which they abandoned in South Gate. They carjacked another vehicle there and took off, according to the department.
That vehicle is described as a light blue 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager with a California license plate number 3PHK484.
Washington was being held at a county jail in San Bernardino after with being charged with robbery and receiving stolen property, authorities said.
