From CCPOA Weekly Update

Off Duty Weapons:
On July 20, 2011, CDCR sent a notice to CCPOA with a proposed change to DOM CH 3 Article 18. After many attempts to meet and confer, a table was conducted on September 6, 2012. The changes to the DOM asked for a Form 1798 to be filled out and turned into IST when a BU 6 member qualifies at an offsite range with off duty weapons. The change also required that a Range Master/Firearms instructor have accreditation from a reputable organization in the US. At the table for CCPOA were Talina Parker/CTF, Adrian Norman/ Transportation, and Michael Vaughan/CCPOA. At the Table for CDCR were Bo Dodson/OLR, Brian Unden/OLR, Shawn Brown/OCS, and Ryan Kirkland/CTC Galt. After discussion, an agreement was reached that CDCR is to issue a Statewide Memorandum to remind BU 6 members to fill out a CDCR Form 1798 if they choose to qualify at an offsite range with their off duty weapons. No changes are required when a BU 6 member qualifies at a CDCR range.

Sgt and Lt 4% Salary Savings:
Last Friday, September 14, CDCR issued a directive to all institutions to initiate a 4% salary savings on Sergeants and Lieutenants. The directive instructed the institutions to meet with the local representatives of CCPOA by September 21 and forward a plan for the 4% savings to Sacramento, with an implementation date of October 1. This directive was issued without notice to CCPOA. We received a copy on Monday September 17, and immediately demanded a meet and confer.

As of this date we have been officially noticed and are seeking a date to meet statewide over this issue as soon as possible. Further direction has been issued to the institutions instructing them not to meet locally until we do so on a statewide table. Additionally, the implementation date has been pushed back to October 15.
